Questions
Questions patients ask
Do I need a referral to see Dr. Tine?+
No. You can schedule directly with Stephanie Tine, DPM without a referral from a primary care doctor or another specialist. If a referring physician has already sent over records or imaging ahead of your visit, that helps, but it is not required to book an appointment.
Is Dr. Tine accepting new patients?+
Yes. Stephanie Tine, DPM is accepting new patients at Flamingo Foot & Ankle in Fort Lauderdale. Call the office or use the online scheduling link to find the next available appointment time.
What is a DPM, and is that a real doctor?+
Yes. A DPM, or doctor of podiatric medicine, is a physician who completes four years of medical education at a college of podiatric medicine followed by a three-year hospital-based surgical residency. Stephanie Tine earned her Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University California School of Podiatric Medicine and completed her three-year foot and ankle surgical residency at Adventist Health White Memorial in Los Angeles, where she served as chief resident. A DPM is licensed to diagnose and treat conditions of the foot and ankle, including surgery.
What should I bring to my first appointment?+
Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, and a list of any medications you currently take. If you are coming in for a sports injury or a prior procedure done elsewhere, bringing imaging or records from that visit, if you have them, helps Dr. Tine evaluate you faster. Shoes you can remove easily make the physical exam go smoother.
What foot and ankle problems does Dr. Tine treat?+
Dr. Tine's practice centers on the foot and ankle, with particular attention to sports injuries and conditions that call for reconstructive surgery. Her procedures include reconstructive surgery, minimally invasive bunion and hammertoe correction, shockwave therapy, and injections for foot, ankle, and joint pain. Not every foot or ankle problem needs surgery. An evaluation is how you and Dr. Tine decide which of these approaches, if any, fits what you are dealing with.
Does Dr. Tine perform surgery, or only non-surgical treatment?+
Both. Dr. Tine performs reconstructive surgery and minimally invasive correction for bunions and hammertoes, and she also offers non-surgical options including shockwave therapy and injections for foot, ankle, and joint pain. Surgery is one option among several rather than the starting point, and your evaluation determines what is reasonable before anything is scheduled.
Will I see Dr. Tine at every appointment?+
Yes. At Flamingo Foot & Ankle, your visits are with Stephanie Tine, DPM directly. Seeing the same physician each time you come in is simply how the practice runs, not something you need to request. This page is for general information and does not replace a medical evaluation. Call the office with specific questions about your care.
